We Sleep Under Bridges

Text, Melodie und Satz Gottfried Weidauer

Refrain

We sleep under bridges and we live in the street.
We are cultural midges, have to stand frost and heat.
We are outcasted people and nobody loves us.
We live under bridges here in dirt, pain and mud.

Vers 1

Can you imagine that you loose all your friends,
Comprehend feelings, suddenly friendship ends?
Can you imagine, noone give helping hand,
noone excepts you not a single Dime spend.

Refrain

Vers 2

How would you feel just kicked out of your job?
Too old for a new one, they’re letting you drop?
Tumbeling downwards, you fall without end?
Old Jonny Walker seems your only friend?

Refrain

Vers 3

You loose your true love, loose your children and home.
Nothing remaining through the streets you’ve to roam?
Starting to smell bad, have no water, no foam!
You only get this sometimes at a resthome.

Refrain

Vers 4

I’m praying: Dear LORD, oh please let me go –
to your land of glory, good times are long ago.
The earth is not YOUR land, not YOUR land, I know.
I’ll wade through the water where the Jordan stream flows.
